The coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has caused a lot of chaos and confusion, and while the current lockdown is necessary to save lives, it must be said that the government's social distancing guidelines have occasionally compounded that confusion.
For example, the Metro recently reported that a man in Derbyshire had received a police warning after mowing his neighbour's lawn. The neighbour insisted that his friend didn't come into the house - he passed the lawnmower plug through the window - and the police ended up apologising for the misunderstanding.
Still, stories like this may well make people hesitate to engage in perfectly legal behaviour - even if they are following the rules and staying 2 metres away from other people at all times. You might even be wondering if you're allowed to go outside and mow your own lawn right now.
Can I Go Out in the Garden While Self-Isolating? >>
The good news is yes, you can mow your lawn as long as you don't go within 2 metres of people from other households. Even if you're not displaying the symptoms of COVID-19 (a high temperature and continuous coughing), you should keep your distance from anyone you don't live with - sadly, that includes close friends and family members.
While some groups are more vulnerable than others, COVID-19 is a potentially deadly threat to people of ALL ages, even those of us with no underlying health problems. It's important to take this lockdown seriously, because even if you don't feel ill, you may still be capable of passing the virus on to somebody else.
Can I still hire a lawn care professional to look after my garden?
Yes - there's no reason why a professional lawn care specialist can't carry out work in your garden as long as social distancing measures are observed at all times.
In spite of the coronavirus, spring is here, and weeds and lawn pests are just as active right now as they would be in a normal year. The team here at Lawn & Weed Expert can still provide a range of lawn care services without contravening the current rules, including:
